1. Mono-tube design vs. double-tube design

Mono-tube construction is a tube which separate two parts from oil and gas. According to piston movement in the tube, damping force will occur. There is high air pressure in the strut and have certain load capacity; at the result, it could keep its damping force. Please see picture as your left side. There are a variety of advantages for mono-tube design. The rigidity and durability of mono-tube design are better, of course, more comfortable. The damping force will be more stable on a bumpy road. Mono-tube design is needed higher professional manufacture technology because its rigidity and sophisticated are requested.

Double-tube design is made by double oil tube construction and oil will flu between inside and outside follow strut movement. Compare with mono-tube design, the oil capacity of double-tube is smaller than mono-tube oil capacity. It pressed measurement is smaller than mono-tube pressed measurement, so it is difficult to adjust slight dampening force. Besides, there is a outer tube beyond inner tube. The radiation is worse and quality of oil is getting inferior. From the point of working, the cost of double-tube is lower than the cost of mono-tube. Generally, the manufacturer who produces a large amount of OE parts will produce such products above.

2. Piston measurement, valve, and the hole of oil flow

Compare with double-tube design, the piston measurement and the valve diameter are bigger than double-tube design and mono-tube design improve the piston hole passed. Mono-tube design could response clearly when vehicle pass on shiny stone road. Furthermore, mono-tube design should be weaken the bumpy and get easy control and performance that is double-tube design should not be done.

3. Radiation

The different between the strut of mono-tube design and the strut double-tube design is that the strut of mono-tube design is contact air directly which have better radiation. Please see the picture at your left side. The large mono-tube capacity make oil could not be gotten inferior. The real result is good for mono-tube design from a year to a year, of course that mono-tube have certain contribution to keep the performance of dampening force. Over a long period of time, you should realize the different between mono-tube design and double-tube design.

4. Inverted Type

Double-tube construction cannot produce inverted type suspension; however, inverted type suspension increase the rigidity of mono-tube design. At the result, the control and ground connection of mono-tube design are better than before, of course, the stable of driving which bring a relieved to your clients. If double-tube design produce inverted type suspension, oil and gas will be reversed, the gas will enter to inner tube and cannot begin its function. Mono-tube inverted type suspension is generally appearance on high-class product. And mono-tube inverted type suspension is very suitable on specification purpose, such as drift, rally, and tracking racing.

 


The spring and the strut are separated on the rears of some certain vehicles. Please make an adjustment in ride height by carrying out the following steps:
  1. A is to lower or raise the ride height.
  2. After required ride height is reached, it’s essential to adjust the length of coilover by adjusting B to your desired position.
  3. After required ride height is reached, put the tire on and move the vehicle around 5-10 m. Then please let C insert 1/3 parts into the strut and leave 2/3 parts outside the strut; tighten the spring perch lock (B).
  4. The unusual noise and a breakdown will occur if failure in adjustment in the length of coilover is reached.
  5. 30m/m of the mount need to leave threaded on the shock body to be safe

Our shock absorbers are designed specifically in accordance with the concepts of high quality and excellent service; hence we provide fine service by offering replacement parts for defective ones during manufacturing process. The shock noise might result from three possibilities as below:
  1. Improper installation of shock absorbers

  2. Vehicle itself

  3. Defective shock
Above three possibilities are the causes of shock noise as long as noise comes from shock itself, we will take responsibility for replacing the defective parts; however, the vehicle’s owner or installer must understand exactly what part to cause shock noise otherwise replacing any part that is not dead on the target just wastes cost and time. Checking what part to create the noise is essential to the problem before you ask for the parts to be replaced otherwise all efforts to try to make things right are in vain. Please carry out the following instructions step by step to make sure where the shock noise comes out.

Warning!!

If the delivered replacement parts are sent wrong and can not fix the problem due to your failure in examination of what part to be exactly fixed, the cost of all parts being sent to you will be born by you.

Troubleshooting

  1. Once shock leaking is founded, it can be replaced for warranty from the place where you purchase the kit once the warranty is proved. (Slight amount of oil may be present on top cap of the shock, this is not shock leaking.)

  2. When the vehicle is in standstill, there is type of sound like ‘DONG ~ DONG ~ DONG’ while you are turning the steering wheel, please check if plastic bearing or metal rings are all defective, greasing these parts can fix the problem.

  3. Sequent noise sound like ‘KO ~ KO ~ KO’ happens during going over the bumpiness on roads/ streets, check the followings:
    • if pillow ball is defective (check if the pillowball has clearance all around, the pillow is not defective if the pillow ball can be rotated vertically. If the pillow ball moves up and down, then pillow ball is defective.)
    • if the lock bracket for lower mount is tightened (please refer to the manual instruction supplied with the kit which says that use a hammer or a screwdriver to tighten the lock bracket)
Note:The supplied adjustment wrenches for ride height adjustment can not be used to tighten the lock bracket.

  1. When car is at high speed going though the bumps, a huge hitting sound creates, please check the followings:
    • if the spring seat snug the spring when the car is jacked up, if not, this will cause the shock to bottom out.
    • if the spring is compressed by the spring seat, if so, this will cause the shock the way too be stiff.
    • if fitting of spring is proper ,and shock noise results from the bottom-out of the shock or pillow ball. (Remove the dust boots from the insert, and tie a strip around the piston rod then get the vehicle driven for a while. Afterwards, jack up the vehicle, you can see if the shock bottoms out or not from the position where the strip is located, if so, put the dust booths back on (dust boots are able to protect the strut from bottoming out; however, if this happens frequently, than changing to stiffer spring rate is recommended.)
How to distinguish what part of shock absorbers to create noise:

Vehicle at low speed and has sequent ‘KO~KO~KO noise sound:
  1. When noise comes out from left-hand shock, please exchange the right-hand shock for left-hand one, afterwards, if the sound keeps coming out from the left side, it means the shock do not have any problem with itself or create any shock noise. In this case, examine all components/ parts of the vehicle completely, the sound may come out from the worn parts of the car

  2. After exchanging the right-hand and left-hand shocks, if noise sound comes from right-hand, it means that the shock is defective. Please check the followings:
    • exchanging the right-hand of pillow ball for the left side, if the place where the noise sound comes out originally has changed to the opposite, then it means the pillow ball is defective. (The pillowball does not cover any warranty; however, if you have just fitted our products to your vehicle for 1 or 2 months, our dealer will still replace the defective pillow ball for you).
    • Exchanging the right-hand of strut for the left one, if the place where the sound comes out originally has changed to the opposite, then this means the strut is defective, please replace it immediately. (Make sure the lower lock bracket for lower mount needs to be tightened to prevent any erroneous examination of what the real problem is.)

Examination of insert:

Take out the strut, push the strut down the ground, if the stroke of the strut can not be compressed all the way (usually 10-15mm left the shock is Ok.) or is not able to rebound automatically itself, it means the strut is broken.

Our products are designed based on the features of high performance and multiple functions; therefore, linkage of different types of metals is required. The return of the products is not allowed once the products are fitted to the vehicle. For your personal right, please figure out completely where the problem exactly is and find the best satisfactory solution to the problem. The return of the products is not allowed if you can not figure what the problem exactly is and what part to create the noise sound, then you should take a whole responsibility.

  2. There are two type of coilover kit in the world. One is McPherson type; the other is Double-A-Arm type. So long as the factory coilover kit is McPherson type, we always offer pillowball upper mount for this application.
  3. One year warranty limited for all K-SPORT coilover kit.
  4. The camber is adjusted by the pillowball upper mount and it will accord to the ride height to have the different angle. Generally, the range will be +1 ~ -3.5
  5. The spring rate for K-SPORT coilover is settled by each and every application, they cannot compare with other brand, because there are different setups with different manufacturers. The spring is an individual item; it can be changed if you thought too stiff or too soft.
  6. For the most of coilover kits which have ride height adjustable lower mount, please raise the spring perch to the suitable position, please do not compress the spring too much.You can use the lower mount to adjust the ride height not the spring perch. Some applications do not have the lower mount to adjust the ride height; it should use the spring perch to adjust the ride height. When the ride height meets the position for your desired, we advise you to use the hammer to tighten the top lock of lower mount.
  7. We have two wrenches in our tool bags for each coilover kit, the spring perch and spring perch lock should turned by opposite direction to attach, not the spring perch lock to touch the spring perch, that’s a different meaning.
  8. When you adjust the dampening setting, please insert and turn the adjustment knobs to turn fully in clockwise direction, this is the hardness dampening setting. Please turn the adjustment knob for 2 turns in anti-clockwise direction, this is the standard dampening setting.
  9. Keep the shaft clean, because dust, salt, and salt water can make shaft scraping.
